IDR is seeking a Google Workspace Application Engineer II to join one of our top clients for a remote opportunity. In this role, you’ll help administer and continuously improve an enterprise Google Workspace environment supporting a large, globally distributed user base. You’ll partner closely with IT and cross-functional teams to resolve elevated incidents, strengthen security and governance, and enable productivity through automation and self-service tools in a fast-paced, innovation-driven industry (e.g., gaming/entertainment).
Position Overview for the Google Workspace Application Engineer II:
- Administer and support an enterprise Google Workspace environment (Gmail, Drive, Docs/Sheets/Slides, Calendar, Meet, Vault, etc.)
- Troubleshoot and resolve escalated support requests and incidents beyond Help Desk scope
- Improve security configurations, permissions, and organizational structure (OUs/groups) to support scale and compliance
- Build and maintain automation and tooling (e.g., scripts/command-line admin utilities) to streamline administration and operations
- Contribute to operational excellence through documentation, runbooks, and participation in on-call/incident response as needed
Requirements for the Google Workspace Application Engineer II:
- 5+ years of hands-on Google Workspace administration experience across core services (Gmail, Drive, Calendar, Meet, etc.)
- Advanced proficiency with Google Admin Console, including managing complex org structures, access controls, and configurations
- Experience writing and executing GAM (Google Apps Manager) scripts for administration and automation
- Strong incident management and troubleshooting skills, including handling escalations and critical operational issues
- Excellent communication and documentation skills, including the ability to work effectively in an asynchronous/remote environment
