Position Overview/Responsibilities for the Network Support Engineer:
- Document and update network cabling information, focusing on copper and fiber connections within data closets.
- Utilize Microsoft Excel to maintain accurate records of network closet configurations.
- Employ a laptop and label printer to create and apply labels for fiber patch panels and cables.
- Communicate any issues or concerns to the Director of Enterprise Infrastructure.
- Perform light cleanup and cable management to ensure organized network closets.
Required Skills for Network Support Engineer:
- Ability to read and interpret existing network and equipment labels with precision.
- Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office tools, including OneDrive, Teams, Excel, and Word.
- Understanding of fiber cabling types and connector types such as ST, SC, LC, MPO, and RJ45.
- Capability to trace and identify active cables in use.
